The Laconia Historical and Museum Society is dedicated to preserving, protecting and sharing the history and culture of Laconia, New Hampshire, from its earliest inhabitants to the present.
Our 2025 Program & Events Calendar is still in progress, but we can't wait to share what we have planned!

Next year, we are excited to celebrate Laconia's Irish ancestry, highlighting early Catholic residents like John O'Shea and families such as the Dunleaveys, Murphys, McIntires and O'Neils. We'll explore the area around the original St. Joseph's Church, known as “Paddy’s Acre,” home to many Irish Catholics.
We'll spotlight the scrapbooks of Andrew Childs' a son of "Paddy's Acre," who lovingly captured the Laconia of his youth.

From this this tight-knit community, built on faith and loyalty to friends, came people who lived lives of service to Laconia. Whether they were first responders, merchants, or politicians, they leave a legacy of values built on hard work, dedication and kindness to others.

2024 Annual Appeal
Help us celebrate Linda Normandin's generous $10,000 donation match challenge for our Annual Appeal 2024, doubling every contribution to support the Laconia Historical & Museum Society (LHMS).
Our building's roof is in urgent need of repair, posing risks to both safety and the preservation of historical artifacts.

Linda's late husband, Paul Normandin, significantly contributed to LHMS's success, overseeing its merger in 1996 and securing nonprofit status. His leadership facilitated key fundraising efforts, ensuring the protection of our collections. Linda’s gift honors Paul’s legacy and reflects her commitment to our mission. We invite everyone to contribute to meet the match challenge and safeguard local history for future generations.
Thank you for your support!
