‘Bolduc Family’ comes to Public TV locally

LACONIA — The Bolduc Family of Gilford and Laconia will be seen locally, on the World Channel of Public Broadcasting through March 12, 2018, in the PBS series, “Our American Family.”For MetroCast subscribers, the World Channel is available on cable channel 288.

“Our American Family” seeks “to document our American family heritage, one family at a time, and inspire viewers to capture their own family stories — before those voices are gone.”

According to the producers of the program, “To sustain their farm and dairy delivery in Gilford, Charles and Aurora Bolduc taught their 13 growing children the values of hard work and helping others.”

Also owners of “the world’s longest continuously operating maple syrup operation,” the family “carries on a centuries-old tradition of perseverance required to distill 30 gallons of sap into a single gallon of syrup.”

A production company from Nashville, Tenn., spent several days here in February 2017, taping at the Bolduc Farm on Morrill Street in Gilford. Post-production required several months after that.

The resulting half-hour program, which has already been appearing on PBS stations around the country for several weeks, will be aired locally on Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Tuesday, March 6 at 2 a.m.,10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Friday, March 9 at 5 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The following week, times will be Sunday, March 11 at 11:30 p.m.; and Monday, March 12, at 3:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

PBS World is airing all seven of the documentaries in the series during March and April, with each documentary shown multiple times.
